Back to School Night

Thank you to all the families that made it out for the Back to School BBQ. Thank you for signing up for a conference.  If you did not get a chance to, please send me an email and we will arrange a time.  I wanted to share some of the awesome work our firsties have been busy with at school.  Check out our classroom and feel free to share with family or friends that don’t live nearby.

This is our behavior clip chart.  Everyone begins each day on the blue part for having a good day.  Students earn a clip move up to excellent when they are caught doing something great.  Students have to move their clips down if they’ve had a warning about their behavior, but have the opportunity to move back up during the day if they show improvement.

The right side has our AR chart. Each morning when students come in they have the opportunity to earn AR points by taking a quiz on the two library books they took home.  Make sure to return your books daily so that you can check out new books. One of the best ways to become a better reader is by reading! Read, read, read in first grade and you will have great success.

We made Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom trees that helped up work on our alphabet letters and handwriting.  Everyone did a great job!

We also showed some of our families as a part of our I.B. The students used geometric shape tracers to create their family portraits.

These firsties have been writing up a storm. It was great to kick off the year by writing about our summer breaks!

We are great friends in first grade! Check out these beautiful water color pictures of each first grader and their good friends.

At the beginning of the year we came up with some first grade “essential agreements.” These are our classroom rules that we all agree to follow.

Fall is one of my favorite seasons and I’m so excited about the change of weather and great fall books!

Here are some of the student’s excellent self-portraits that they created during our first unit. I’m thrilled at how they turned out! So darling!
